With 2 players still missing to complete the Los Angeles Lakers roster, the purple and gold squad have reportedly hosted a training camp for existing free agents who may potentially end up wearing the Laker uniform at the start of the upcoming NBA season. 

According to a report by Bleacher Report, veteran forward Michael Beasley is one of those hopefuls. 

The league has known Beasley's potential to score from almost everywhere on a half court set, and those skills were primarily the reason why his stock was so high during the 2008 NBA rookie draft where he was selected 2nd overall. 

Guess who the first pick was. Derrick Rose. 

While it was highly projected that Beasley would nab the top spot, then first pick Chicago Bulls badly needed a guard, and with Rose growing up in WIndy City, it's match made in heaven. 

For the Miami Heat though, they could only imagine what could have been for this priced second overall top pick. Immediately following his draft, Beasley immediately became a presence down low Miami and averaged double figures in his rookie year. 

For the Lakers, getting Beasley is an instant offensive addition to their already crowded front court. However, they may need to adjust to some of the off-court issues he always finds himself in. 

Some of the previous issues with Beasley include violations of team policies, possession and use of marijuana and the usual disobedience to authority. While the 25-year-old can definitely play strong on the offensive end, he is often seen as too undisciplined to provide full commitment and undivided attention on defense. 

Fortunately, coach Byron Scott is a defense specialist who can definitely improve Beasley's defensive efficiency if ever the forward makes it to the Lakers. 

Los Angeles Lakers should weigh in carefully whether they want to invest on a player with high potential, but also comes with a lot of risk factor.
