Gremlins 2 reports went into overdrive when Richard Donner, who directed the original Goonies, said he wants to get Mikey, Brand, Chunk, Data and Mouth back together in a Goonies sequel.

Goonies 2 will be coming from the original director Richard Donner. The story has already been written by Steven Spielberg, who co-wrote the original, and Astin spilled "I happen to know that they are actively trying to secure a writer based on an outline that they feel really confident about."

Feldman and Astin both claimed that Chris Columbus is on board for the Goonies sequel.

Astin recently told TheBlaze that "Steven Spielberg said to me when I was 13 years old that he wanted to make a sequel to 'The Goonies' and that he couldn't wait to find the right story."

Astin played Mikey and Feldman played Mouth. Astin says Goonies 2 is is being mapped out by Steven Spielberg, who produced and wrote the story for the original.
