The final day of NYC's Electric Zoo festival was cancelled due to bad weather. This is the second year in a row the electronic dance music (EDM) fest was forced to close early.

"Electric Zoo NY has shut down for the remainder of the festival due to extreme weather conditions. We apologize to fans, but your safety is our main concern," tweeted the organizers of the festival. "Please follow all NYPD and #Ezoo security instructions. Thank you!"

The organizers of the festival maintained that concert-goers will not be allowed a re-entry even if weather conditions become better.

The Electric Zoo festival was cancelled after a flash flood advisory in the New York City area was released.

This is not the first time Electric Zoo festival was cancelled and forced to close early. In last year's even, two festival-goers reportedly died of drug overdose, four people were hospitalized and 31 members of the audience were arrested, prompting the festival to shut down.

As a precaution for this year's celebration, new safety measures were implemented including a required viewing of a 2-minute anti-drug video clip for festival-goers. Those who participated in the event were also met by drug-sniffing dogs and security officers were scattered in the area.

While the tragedy that happened in last year's event was not repeated this year, the festival's remaining six hours, which were scheduled to have performances by Kaskade; Alesso; Bingo Players and Chase & Status, was forced to be halted.

Kaskade took to his official Twitter account to respond to the cancellation of their performances, joking: "Ummmmmmmm. No. I just have one question..... Sooooo...... Who has the keys to @barclayscenter???"

Electric Zoo festival opened on August 29 at Randall's Island Park, with slated performances on the first two days by Skrillex and Diplo's collaboration Jack U, Zedd, Armin Van Buuren and David Guetta. No announcement has been made regarding reimbursements for tickets paid for the cancelled performances.
