Gay Teen Daniel Pierce Disowned And Beaten By Parents; Shocking Footage Released; How is He Doing Now?

Nineteen-year-old Daniel Pierce from Kennesaw, Georgia, has recently been given our attention due to the shocking video footage released of his parents beating him for being gay. Pierce recorded the video himself, claiming he knew something was amiss when he came home after work. Though his family has since disowned him, Pierce has received a tremendous amount of support from all over the Internet.

The video is now on YouTube, and is titled "How Not to React When Your Child Tells You that He's Gay." According to The Mirror, the footage received 3.4 million hits in just three days. BBC News relates that though the faces of Pierce's family could not be seen, their voices were clearly heard. A female voice says, "You can deny it all you want but I believe in the word of God... and God creates nobody that way. It's a path you have chosen." Moments later, Daniel can be heard screaming, "Get off me! What's wrong with you people?" His family members continued by calling him a disgrace.

After the incident, Pierce's aunt Teri Cooper came and took him in after receiving a text from Pierce detailing that his family was trying to stage an intervention to "pray away the gay." Upon reaching safety, Pierce uploaded the footage of the altercation. He had no idea at the time how much support he was to receive.

Since the release of the footage, Internet supporters have donated more than $50,000 through a GoFundMe page dedicated to helping Pierce with living expenses. Pierce's boss Regina Ryan, said, "[His story] has gone viral because it has touched every genre of people... this doesn't just happen in the movies, it's for real. When it's in your face, you can't walk away from it," showing her support for Pierce.

Pierce has since thanked his supporters, saying, "I am without words right now! I want to make a difference and if I can save one kid the hurt and abuse that I went through I will be happy! The kind words are helping me move on," revealing the huge impact the donations and support has had on his life. BBC News reports that Pierce would like to give away some of the raised money in order to support youth facing similar situations.
