Upcoming Samsung Phones 2014: Rumored Midrange Samsung Handset Shows More 'Alphas' Are Coming Our Way

The Galaxy Alpha is one of the upcoming Samsung phones for 2014, and is considered a rival to Apple's new iPhone.

However, it looks like the Korean manufacturer will not be contented in releasing just one.

According to a report by GSM Arena, a new Samsung handset has appeared on benchmarking app GFX Bench.

Bearing the model number SM-A5000, the new Android phone is tipped to be the first of a number of smartphones which would be part of the Galaxy Alpha lineup from Samsung.

Given that semi-high-end Galaxy Alpha is the first Samsung smartphone to pack a metal frame, then we expect these midrangers to get the same feature.

So what does this new Samsung handset have to offer?

In the report, the SM-A5000 will feature the same display at 4.8 inches with HD (1280 x 720) resolution, 2GB of RAM and a quad-core CPU. However, the phone will 'only' get a Snapdragon chip that is clocked at 1.2GHz. The report also claims that the new Samsung Alpha version will come with a 64-bit Snapdragon 410 chip from Qualcomm because of its Adreno 306 GPU, which is also present in another 64-bit midranger, the Desire 510.

Aside from the specs leaked through GFX Bench, other features include an 8GB of internal memory probably with microSD card support, a 12MP primary camera and a 5MP front cam for selfies.

Also on board are some connectivity options such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, a compass, and a gyroscope. The phone will come with Android 4.4.4 Kit Kat out of the box.

Samsung will be hosting a press even tomorrow, and may continue to launch devices  even after it finally unveils the Galaxy Note 4, so we may expect this mysterious midranger to get more attention in the coming days.
