Doctor Who Season 8 Spoilers: Samuel Anderson On Danny And Doctor Feud, 'I Become A Companion For The Companion'

As "Doctor Who" season 8 begins airing, spoilers regarding the relationship between the Doctor and newcomer Danny Pink have surfaced.

“There’s a bit of friction that arises between Danny and the Doctor midway through the season," said actor Samuel Anderson to Hero Complex. "And [Danny's knowledge of math] is a tool for that friction.”

"I have a feeling that there might be a math-off, where the Doctor grows grumpy at Danny for having solved something before him, or pointed out a mistake he's made," commented MaraBackman on DoctorWhoTV.

Spoilers also confirm that Danny and the Doctor will disagree on Clara, and who has her best interests at heart.

“Danny is an ex-soldier and he’s an ex-soldier for a reason. The Doctor isn’t sure about that when they first meet… He’s a bit of an opposite to the Doctor. The military training is there when it’s needed.”

“Before joining the school, he was a soldier in the British army. But he left, for reasons that will be revealed throughout the season," elaborated Anderson to NYPost. "He’s an everyday sort of man, which I think is neat, especially pitched against such a massive hero as the Doctor. He’s sort of a straight man.”

“I would say I become a companion for the companion. There's a cute dynamic between them. The Doctor rolls with it. He wants them to be happy.”
