Left 4 Dead 3 Release Date News And Rumors: Turtle Rock Splits From Valve And Is Focusing On 'Evolve', But Leaked Screenshots Indicate Progress Is Being Made [PHOTO]

"Left 4 Dead 3" release date has been the subject of several rumors circling around the internet recently. Here are all the facts currently known.

The first "Left 4 Dead" game was developed by Turtle Rock Studios, which has split from Valve since the 2009 release, and is currently working on Evolve for the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The second came out a year later, and it has been almost 5 years since then. Predicably fans want to know what is happening with the franchise.

Counter Strike co-creator Minh Le who previously worked with "Left 4 Dead" developer Valve Corporations started the rumor mill when he said, "It wouldn't be any news if I said yes, I saw it. It looks great."

"So I was really excited when I saw that. I was like 'Wow, this looks great.' I really enjoyed Left 4 Dead. It was just one of those games that really changed the industry because I think at the time there weren't many good co-op games, so it was like, 'Yeah, this is a great co-op game'," he shared.

Falisek from Valve even teased: "I really like working on this series, it is one of my favorite. It creates so much fun with the world and the characters. I love horror and I love Zombie." Could he be talking about L4D 3?

Another evidence that set off speculations was a YouTube video posted by Valve, where illustrator Andrea Wicklund accidentally revealed some "Left 4 Dead 3" files as she went through her computer.

There have been leaked screenshots of the game that have been re-made using Valve's new Source 2.0 game engine. The screenshots have come from a confidential slide show and shows a rebuilt Plantation level from the Left 4 Dead 2 title. But this could simply mean they are remastering the game, not making a new one.

The release of "Left 4 Dead 3" and "Half Life 3" also depends on the release of Source Engine 2. Both these games will be powered by the Source Engine 2 which will have next-gen graphics, better features and more interactivity.

All of that said all the rumors about "Left 4 Dead 3" are just that, rumors. The leaked screenshots, youtube video and quote from Minh Le all give hope to the idea that the game is making a comeback. But the fact that Black Tusk is focusing on Evolve right now, and the Source 2.O engine isn't ready yet suggest this is just another internet rumor. What do you think about the potential "Left 4 Dead 3" release date? Check back for more information as it becomes available.
