Install Official Android 4.4.2 KitKat Update On Samsung Galaxy S5; AT&T Variant Gets Brand New Firmware Via OTA To Fix Some Errors

AT&T Samsung Galaxy S5 users can now install new and official Android 4.4.2 KitKat update.

According to a report on Android Geeks, the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update was launched last week. However, it seems that it is only until early this week when Samsung Galaxy S5 AT&T users received the new firmware.

Take note that the new firmware with build number G900AUCU2ANG3 OTA is compatible only with Samsung Galaxy S5, particularly the AT&T variant which carries the model number G900A

The brand new Android 4.4.2 KitKat update comes with small changes, particularly to fix errors found in the previous version of the firmware. The firmware size is 142.8 MB and users who wish to install the official Android 4.4.2 KitKat update can expect minor changes and improvements.

According to AT&T support page, the changelog for the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update includes:

Security updates and patches

Application installation enhancements

Accidental emergency dial fixed on the lock screen

Several lower layer modem crashes and sluggishness improvement enhancements

E-mail UX enhancements

S-View cover error

Re-activation lock improvements

 Those who wish to install the new and official Android 4.4.2 KitKat update on Samsung Galaxy S5 can access the firmware via Over-The-Air or OTA process. To download the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update smoothly, make sure to have a stable Wifi connection.

The support page also noted the Samsung Galaxy S5 AT&T users to create a backup of the contents on their device. The post reads:

"Although there should be no impacts to settings or data, we recommend that you back up your media files to an SD card, a PC, or using a favorite application (from the Play Store), prior to upgrading the software. You can also backing up and restoring your phone using Samsung Kies."
