Derrick Rose News: Former MVP Will Embrace A New Role With Bulls This Coming 2014-15 NBA Season, More Of A Facilitator Than Scorer?

A lot of Derrick Rose news lately has been music to their ears, especially his stint with Team USA right now at the FIBA World Cup in Spain.

On Sunday, the 25-year-old Rose even stated that their second game in the tournament is the first time he played competitive back-to-back games for the last two years. And that is certainly something worth rejoicing at if you are a Bulls fan.

However, during his stint with Team USA, Rose has not erupted nor been as effective as far as scoring is concerned. However, he has been a consistent starter for the American team due to his playmaking and good defense on the court.

In fact, we could be seeing more of this facilitating skills when Rose returns to Chicago and play with argaubly the best offensive Bulls squad since the Michael Jordan era.

With Pau Gasol and Joakim Noah manning the middle, coach Thibs can certainly include both forward centers and design almost an unlimited amount of plays which would generate points for the team. Throw in some pure shooters in Doug McDermott and Nikola Mirotic, who both can play the stretch four or wingman positions, and you have an offensive onslaught waiting to be unleashed to unsuspecting teams.

With a Chicago Bulls roster this talented, the 2011 MVP may have to play a more passive role in order to allow everyone to play their offensive game.

For sure, D-Rose will still slice and dice defenses if his knees continue to remain healthy, but he may not have to make the final shot every time. The good thing about this Bulls squad is that almost everyone can knock down open and slightly contested shots, and that includes even coach Thibs' defensive duo in Jimmy Butler and Taj Gibson.

We all know that Aaron Brooks can shoot the three, and backup point guard Kirk Hinrich can add a more sticky type of defense paired with some sharpshooting skills when needed.

This Chicago Bulls squad is a talented one, even without Rose, and now with only a few new players who can score, placing Chicago and the NBA Finals in the same sentence is acceptable once more.
