Anthony Davis News: The 'Unibrow' Is Poised To Take NBA By Storm Next Season, Can He Contend For MVP?

Anthony Davis is wrecking havoc in this year's FIBA World Cup in Spain where the power forward is averaging double figures in points, and has worked well with fellow big man Kenneth Faried in keeping a clean slate for Team USA en route the next round.

The question now is whether the 21-year-old forward/center can keep the same intensity and level of play for the upcoming NBA season.

During his first couple of years playing with the New Orleans Pelicans, Davis has been pretty solid from both ends of the court and he has been a capable rebounder since his high school days. He even added a few more pounds to his frame in order to be able to become more effective in operating inside the paint and grabbing boards.

But Davis' level of play has always been seen as consistent, he seldom takes over in close games, which often result in losses in spite his great effort.

Another wrinkle on the 21-year-old's record is his injuries. As a 6'10" player, some of Davis' injury prone parts of the body include his knees and ankles. And in his two seasons with the Pelicans, he averaged almost 20 missed games due to injury, which is probably one reason why he failed to win the Rookie of the Year Award two seasons ago.

However, with the explosiveness Davis is showing while playing for Team USA, we can't help but wonder whether he would be able to bring such intensity in a much more competitive environment such as the NBA.

It appears that Davis flourishes whenever he isn't the number one option of the team, and the fact that there are a lot of scoring guards in the Team USA roster makes defenses think twice on putting double coverage on the Unibrow.

Whenever these guards drive (insert James Harden), they will eventually lure in defenders which would free Davis.

Currently, the New Orleans Pelicans has some guards who can play that role such as Jrue Holiday and Tyreke Evans. Now that Davis has found the confidence he needs, it is definitely possible for him to help the Pelicans win more.
