iPad Mini 3 Release Date: Which Is The Best 8.9" Slate, The Upcoming iPad Mini Retina Or New HTC Nexus 9?

The iPad mini 3 release date is just around the corner, and if we will follow Apple's launch schedule, it could be unveiled by October or November.

Ironically, the new Nexus tablet may also be released in the same time frame, and that certainly is no accident.

The question now is why slate will succeed in getting a greater portion of the market.

iPad mini 3

Right now, there aren't a lot of rumors surrounding the iPad mini 3. That is because the attention of the entire mobile world lies on Apple's upcoming smartphone, the iPhone 6, and this week several manufacturers have announced their devices at the IFA event in Berlin.

However, as for previous leaks, the iPad mini 3 will still get a Retina display just like the previous generation model, as well as a more powerful A8 chip, which should come with 64-bit compatibility. Other rumored specs include a Touch ID home button, iOS 8, and better multi-tasking features and functions.

Nexus 9

Originally, this should be the Nexus 8, but because of its 8.9-inch display, it is just fitting to refer to it as the Nexus 9. Developed by HTC, 'Volantis' would be the Taiwanese manufacturer's first Android slate since 2011 and it is intriguing how it would design such a device.

Some rumored specs for this Android L-powered device include a QHD or 2K (2560 x 1600) resolution screen, which should please a number of people, 3GB of RAM, and NVIDIA's Tegra K1 chipset. This means the Android slate could be the fastest and most powerful gaming tablet in the market if those specs are true.

With the IFA already ending this week, the next major events in the tech world will include Google's unveiling of its newest Nexus devices and Apple's event, though we expect the Cupertino manufacturer to unveil the iPhone 6 and iWatch first this month, and then its iPads and MacBooks in October.
