Upcoming Android Phones 2014: Top 4 Android Smartphones At The IFA Event So Far

The IFA event in Berlin brings us a lot of upcoming Android phones for 2014, and so far there are a number of notable smartphones to mention at this stage of the event.

Here are the top four Android handsets announced at the IFA showcase in Germany:

4. Huawei Ascend Mate 7

Huawei continues to catch the mobile industry by surprise as it continues to release devices which are poised to make a big impact in emerging markets. The latest offering from the Chinese manufacturer is the Ascend Mate 7 which is an Android phablet with high-end specs.

It boasts a a whopping 6-inch display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, octa-core CPU, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory and Android 4.4 Kit Kat out of the box. There is also a higher-end version that includes 3GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in storage. Also on board is a 13MP primary camera and a 5MP front cam for selfies.

3. Lenovo Vibe Z2

A lot of people have been waitig for the Lenovo handset and now they finally get it. While the Lenovo smartphone is not as evenly spec'd as the Ascend Mate 7 or even its sibling the Vibe X2, it makes up for it with an impressive all metal build, a 64-bit Snapdragon 410 chipset, and a high-end camera pairing of 13MP/8MP primary and secondary cameras. The price tag is also attractive at only $429.

2. Sony Xperia Z3

Without considering the previous Sony flagship, we still think the Xperia Z3 is one of the best smartphones announced at the IFA event. It gets the same 5.2-inch display with 1080p resolution, a higher CPU frequency, but retains the same amount of RAM and camera.

However, some notable changes for the new flagship include a thinner frame, lighter build, a more rounded look, and a metal frame.

1. Samsung Galaxy Note 4

The Samsung phablet is undeniably the best and most impressive smartphone launched at the IFA event this year. The phone retains its 5.7-inch display from last year, but this time it gets a QHD or 2K (2560 x 1440) resolution just like the LG G3. The Android monster phone boasts a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset, quad-core CPU, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in memory.

Like the Galaxy Alpha, the Note 4 has a metal frame, but it retains its faux back cover from last year. There is a fingerprint scanner, heart rate monitor and UV sensor on board, but water resistance has been left out by the Korean manufacturer. The camera is also improved as it optical image stabilization will now make the 16MP camera take even better shots. Surely, this new Android smartphone will test the likes of the iPhone 6 when it goes official one week from now.
