Nexus 5 Review: LG And Google Still Working On A 64GB Version In Spite Nearing Launch Date Of Nexus 6?

The upcoming Nexus 5 review may not be the same as the previous reviews of Google's current herophone. That is because rumors are now suggesting that Google may still be interested to keep the smartphone and offer it to the market in spite the impending launch of its new Nexus handset.

Dubbed as the Nexus X or Shamu, the new Nexus smartphone will allegedly be developed by Motorola and should see the light of day at an event in October, together with the unveiling of the Nexus 9 by HTC.

In the rumor, the Nexus 5 will allegedly be re-launched, this time boasting a 64GB built-in memory, while getting the same specs which include a Snapdragon 800 chipset, 2GB of RAM and a quad-core CPU.

While the alleged upgrade is still a rumor, the smartphone could be one of the biggest thorns for midrange Android devices in the market when it becomes official.

Considering Google's previous pricing strategies for the Nexus handset, the smartphone may retain its affordable pricing. So that means the search engine giant may be looking to use the Nexus 5 as a midranger while the Nexus 6 is the flagship.

If that is the case, then more consumers may be looking to switch to the Nexus 5 with 64GB memory, especially that it will come with the latest Android version, Android L.

Currently, Google's competitors have a flagship and a number of midrangers for the mass market. However, these phones often boast only a Snapdragon 400 and 1GB of RAM. In comparison, the Nexus 5 currently has a Snapdragon 800 chip and 2GB of RAM.

Last year, the Nexus 5 manufactured by LG has been considered as one of the top smartphones launched in 2013, and if the rumor is true, then it could be the best midranger in the market.

We'll see in the coming days whether this rumor is spot on.
