Third Annual CBGB Music & Film Festival Will Feature Movies and Music; Jane's Addiction, Devo, We Are Scientists and Macy Gray To Play Five Day Festival in October

CBGB, the country blue grass and blues bar that became a punk mecca, closed in 2006, but the legend lives on in a five day festival of music and movies.

The 2014 CBGB Music & Film Festival will happen starting Wednesday, October 8, and run throught Sunday, October 12. The five-day annual festival will take the punk party to venues across Manhattan and Brooklyn including Times Square, Center 548, Bowery Electric, City Winery, Pianos, Knitting Factory and other clubs. The five-day CBGB Music & Film Festival will feature musical acts by emerging and established artists. Among the artists will be the band Jane's Addiction, which is one of alternative rock's most influential acts. Jane's Addiction is coming to New York to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their album, "Nothing's Shocking." The band will play the album in its entirety. Iconic R&B and soul musician Macy Gray will play an intimate show.  Also on the stage is the "are we not men?" de-evolution band Devo, who are known for their eccentric stage shows as well as their unique combination of punk, alt rock and new wave music.

Robert DeLong, an American electronic musician and Surfer Blood, who are pioneers in the indie scene, West Palm Beach-based surf-rock band, will also hit the fest. The post-rock revival band We Are Scientists will bring a high-energy, enthusiastic set.

Cheeky Parade, one of Japan's rising girl groups, will also hit the stage along with artists like Mother Feather, Rocket and the Ghost, The Soft White Sixties, Electric 6, Mind Over Time, Regret the Hour, Sun Ladders, Los Elk, Honey Wild, Bridges and Powerlines, J and the 9s, STRNGRS, Vision of Disorder, The Muffs, Upset, HayBaby, Ceramics, Baby Acid, High Waisted, Heavy Glow, Immigrant Union, Jeremy and Harliquins, The VeeVees, Brand of Julez, Wrench, Killcode, Lily and the Parlour Tricks, Wussy, We Are Temporary, Making Movies,  Scale Model, Happy Lives, Born Cages, Don Babylon, Alejandro Meolo and Robinsones, The Howl, Netherlands, Sons and Heirs, Wake the Sun, ACID, Ms. America, Hot Blood, The Off White, The Battery Electric, Marc Ford, BANG BANG, Crush Distance, Cash Registers, Wives, BFW, Tub, Brought Low, Archive, Devils Broadcast, No Valentine, Reid Paley, Brunch of the Living Dead, Hymen Holocaust, The Montauk Project and more.

The CBGB Film Festival will also feature music-focused films including the world premiere of "Hardcore Devo Live, which takes you into the brains that created the concept, the music and the spectacle of Devo; "This Is Spinal Tap" - In honor of the film's 30th Anniversary, the festival will celebrate this ground breaking film but screening the rock music mockumentary; "Like Sunday Like Rain" which stars Leighton Meester, Debra Messing and Billie Joe Armstrong; "With You: written and directed by  Grammy nominated house DJ, Dirty South; "The Winding Stream - A moving documentary of the American roots music dynasty, the Carters and the Cashs.

Additional films showing during the film festival include Mount Joy, Big in Japan, I Need A Dodge, All Together Now, Monica Z, Salad Days: The Birth of Punk in the Nation's Capital, A Film About Kids and Music, A Decade with an Unsigned Rock Band, Find Your Way: A Busker's Documentary, Riot on the Dance Floor, Music City USA, Suburban Gothic, Living is Easy With Eyes Closed, Austin to Boston, CBGB the Movie, Tin (film short, Claymation), It's Who You Know (episodes), Alone in North America (short film) and more.
