Terminator Sequels Will Be Released in 2017, 2018; Cast Members Will Include Arnold Schwarzenegger and Emilia Clarke [PHOTO]

Paramount Pictures will be releasing two sequels to its revamped Terminator franchise, which will follow in the footsteps of next summer's "Terminator: Genisys." Terminator 2 will be released on May 19, 2017, followed by Terminator 3 on June 29, 2018.

According to Variety, Paramount has partnered with David Ellison's Skydance on the updated series, which originally launched in 1984 with James Cameron directing Arnold Schwarzenegger as the movie's famed cyborg. The updated trilogy will be directed by Adam Taylor.

Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier wrote the screenplay of the franchise, and Dana Goldberg and David Ellison of Skydance Productions are producing it. Deadline reports that Skydance's Paul Schawke, and Annapurna Pictures' Megan Ellison, Kalogridis and Lussier are executive producing.

Hollywood Reporter reports that "Game of Thrones'" Emilia Clarke, "Divergent's" Jai Courtney, "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes'" Jason Clark, "G.I. Joe: Retaliation's" Byung-Hun Lee, "Doctor Who's" Matt Smith, and "The Hunger Games'" Dayo Okeniyi will also be joining Schwarzenegger as cast members.

The plot of the movies is currently still unknown, but we do know that Emilia will be playing Sarah Connor, Jason will be playing John Connor, and Jai will be playing Kyle Reese. Schwarzenegger will be returning as an 'aged cyborg.' He commented, "The way the character is written, it's a machine underneath. It's this metal skeleton. But above that is human flesh. And the Terminator's flesh ages, just like any other human being's flesh. Maybe not as fast. But it definitely ages," revealing how the plot accommodated his own age into the movies.

If the franchise can do as well as past Terminator films, it holds promise in the box office. Variety reports that the fourth film in the original franchise, "Terminator Salvation," carried in a production price tag of nearly $200 million, but earned it all back by taking in $371 million alone worldwide in 2009. As for the entire original franchise itself, it earned more than $1 billion at the worldwide box office.
