Samsung Galaxy Note Edge Release Date: Stocks For Phablet With Two-Sided Display May Be Limited, But Will Allegedly Hit Local Carriers In The US

The entire mobile industry was surprised when Samsung announced not only its newest Galaxy Note 4 phablet, but also the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge, and its release date may arrive later this month or early October.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the Android-powered device will boast a display similar to that of the Galaxy Note 4 but a little wider due to a curved portion of the screen which would work exlcusively for some unique phone features and functions.

Aside from the curved portion of the screen, the 5.6-inch display gets a Super AMOLED display with QHD or 2K (2560 x 1600) resolution which amounts to a whopping 524 pixel density.

However, the Galaxy Note Edge is not all design as the smartphone also boasts the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset which is paired with a 3GB RAM. There will also be another version that will come with Samsung's Exynos 5433 chip instead, which is a beast on its own.

As for the built-in storage, only available options are 32GB and 64GB and these can be further expanded through the provided microSD card slot. Other specs include a 16MP primary camera with OIS and a 3.7MP front cam for selfies.

In spite the high-end specs and the cool curved design provided by the two-sided display, a new report claims that the device will only see limited availability in the market, just like Samsung's Galaxy Round smartphone which launched late last year.

Fortunately, the device is said to arrive in the US, particularly in local carriers such as AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon. Pricing for the Galaxy Note Edge has not been revealed either, but reports claim that it will be more expensive than the Galaxy Note 4, which is expected to get the same price as its predecessor when it was released last year.
