‘Exodus: Gods And Kings’ Featurette Released: Ridley Scott Explains ‘Epic Scale’, "Dark Knight Rises" Actor Christian Bale Headed For Oscar Nom?

The highly anticipated biblical epic "Exodus: Gods and Kings" released a new featurette today through Yahoo, and the set looks enormous. In fact, director Ridley Scott and production designer Arthur Max both discuss the massive scale of the film and Max even mentions that it's the biggest thing he's ever worked on. Christian Bale will star in the film as Moses, which begs the question, could the "Dark Knight" actor be headed for a Best Actor nomination?

According to Yahoo, "Director Ridley Scott (Gladiator, Alien) is hoping to restore the old-school epic to its past glory with ‘Exodus: Gods and Kings', a biblical tale starring Christian Bale as Moses and a nearly unrecognizable Joel Edgerton as Rhamses."

In the featurette, Scott and his production designer Arthur Max talk about the sheer size and numbers put into the epic biblical tale of two brothers that eventually become rivals and then enemies. As Screenrant states, "while his more recent works haven't reached the level of praise he saw earlier in his career, one thing that most viewers can agree on is that a Scott film always looks impressive (even if the overall content proves to be divisive). The jury is still out on whether or not Exodus will be his big comeback movie, but one look at the featurette above indicates that Scott hasn't lost his eye for outstanding visuals."

Although the film has recently suffered some controversy due to the casting of mostly caucasian actors in the lead roles, with Christian Bale starring as Moses, one can probably suspect that he'll more than earn his role.

Christian Bale, who already has a golden statue for his performance in "The Fighter," came pretty close to a second award, this time in the Best Actor category, for "American Hustle." It's not too much of a speculation to wonder if the already highly respected actor will receive recognition for such an iconic role. Moses, a complex character that's faced with the task of leading a whole group of people, screams Oscar bait.

As Screenrant explains, "awards time is just around the corner and while Exodus isn't generating the buzz that other films this year have been, it could easily become a late arrival to the game." Here's hoping if nothing else, Christian Bale and the rest of the cast can hold the film up to a tolerable place. "Exodus: Gods and Kings" is due out on December 12th.
