San Antonio Spurs Ready To Establish Dynasty In Spite Aging Stars, Will Rely On Fluid Ball Movement And Team Play

The San Antonio Spurs is still the best team in the NBA after all the commotion during this off-season.

In a two-month stretcth that has seen LeBron going home to Cleveland, Chris Bosh accepting the role of leader in Miami, Carmelo Anthony returning with the New York Knicks, the Indiana Pacers losing their two primary scorers and defenders, the Los Angeles Lakers trying to build up anything, and the Chicago Bulls gearing for a trip back to the Eastern Conference Finals, San Antonio was the most quiet.

Considering that the Spurs just won the 2014 NBA Title, that should've not been the case, but that's what happened.

We can all connect it to this team not relying heavily on its superstars who are years removed from their respective primes. Duncan will enter his 18th season, while Parker and Ginobili will play their 14th season in the NBA.

However, the seeming lack of talent on this squad is greatly complemented with a team play that is unselfish, unforgiving and highly unpredictable.

In the Spurs' last three games against the Heat, it averaged a winning margin of 18 points, which is brought about by good ball movement and a stiffling team defense. While San Antonio does not play defense as well as the Bulls for the past seasons, it managed to improve its offensive efficiency at the same time, combining a deadly one-two punch.

The important thing for the Spurs this coming season is they have retained all of the players in the 2014 Champions team. Duncan and Parker both re-signed with San Antonio, and even Boris Diaw and Patty Mills who were both instrumental in their successful conquest for the NBA title.

Most importantly, coach Gregg Popovich is returning and signed a multi-year contract.
