David Letterman Intern Slaps `The Late Show’ and CBS With Class Action Suit; No Educational Value, Just Cheap Labor, Says David Letterman Intern

David Letterman isn't going to go out quietly. And neither will his interns. The long-time talk show host is stepping down from the long-running CBS show and, according to a new suit, Letterman is leaving without paying a bill.

CBS and David Letterman were slapped with a class action lawsuit from a former intern. The former intern for The Late Show with David Letterman filed a class action filed in New York state court on Thursday claiming that she wasn't paid for the time she worked there and that the CBS illegally classified her as exempt from wage laws.

The intern is being joined by a group of interns who claim the network used them for cheap labor.

According to Deadline, Mallory Musallam filed a class action complaint against CBS Broadcasting, CBS Corp. and the David Letterman's production company Worldwide Pants. The intern filed the claim on behalf herself and everyone who has ever been an intern on the show.

The court document says "Named Plaintiff has initiated this action seeking for herself, and on behalf of all similarly situated employees that also worked on The Late Show With David Letterman, all compensation, including minimum wages and overtime compensation, which they were deprived of, plus interest, attorneys' fees, and costs."

The suit claims the interns received no "academic or vocational training" when they were working at the network and that they were hired simply as a means to keep payroll costs down on the show.

This is Letterman's last year with Late Night With David Letterman. He is set to be replaced by Comedy Central's Colber Report host Stephen Colbert in 2015.

Former interns Kimberly Behzadi and Jason Rindenau filed a class action suit against ICM Partners earlier this year. ICM lawyers filed a motion to have the action dismissed last week.

The complaint says Mallory Musallam worked as an intern for the Late Show from September until December 2008.
