iPhone 6 Release Date: 4.7" iPhone 6 And 5.5" iPhone 6 Plus Finally Announced As Biggest, Slimmest iPhones In History, Boast Retina HD Display, Curved Screen On The Edges

It seems even Apple CEO Tim Cook is too excited to announce the iPhone 6 release date that he immediately launched the new iPhones when the keynote began.

And from what we're seeing, it looks like most of the rumors are true.

According to reports by GSM Arena and BGR, the iPhone 6 will boast a 4.7 inch display that will feature an 'ion-strengthened glass' which should make the display resistant to scratches. The phone will boast a Retina display, but this time with an improved HD resolution of 750 x 1334 pixels.

In the reports, the new iPhone 6 and its 5.5-inch sibling the iPhone 6 Plus are both the largest and thinnest iPhones to launch ever.

The 4.7-inch iPhone 6 comes at 6.9mm thin, while the much bigger iPhone 6 Plus which should match up against the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, only has a 7.1mm waistline.

Aside from the thin frame, the bigger iPhone would pack a Retina display of its own, but with a higher resolution of Full HD, the first time for an iPhone.

Like what previous rumors have been pointing out, the design of the new iPhones is reminiscent of the iPod Touch, with its curved edges and a more rounded design.

In the report, the screen is slightly curved on the edges to provide a more seamless touch-intuitive experience.

In case you are particular about the iPhone's cameras, the rumors are true. The new iPhone 6 will only pack an 8MP shooter at the back, but gets a larger sensor to perform better in low-light conditions. In the report, the iPhone camera is capable of capturing up to 43MP resolution in panorama.

On the recording side, the camera can record 60fps videos at 1080p resolution. Slo-mo videos can be shot at 120fps and 240fps, but in the report users can only do so with a lower resolution.
