Katey Sagal Receives Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame; 'Married with Children' Actress Celebrates Career; Thanks Co-Stars [PHOTO]
According to Westside Today, actress Katey Sagal received the 2,529th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this past Tuesday. She is best known for her role of Peg Bundy, the outrageous housewife on the Fox comedy "Married... With Children," in which she acted for 11 seasons.
Sagal told Variety that the honor reminds her of her family and their lives in showbiz. "It makes me think of my family, it makes me think of my father... What I do is what I was raised around, so there's something familial about that." Sagal's father, Boris, was a TV and film director who helped her get a leg up in the business.
Eventually, Sagal landed a role on a sitcom, which helped her to gain attention. She recalled, "That job led to more jobs, and before I knew it I was on 'Married with Children,'" giving more background on the beginning of her career. She also received a lot of guidance from her co-stars, particularly Ed O'Neill, who played her husband in the show. She stated, "I learned a lot from Ed... He knew how to be funny in a real way. He didn't play for the jokes."
Sagal means a lot to her co-stars, too. The Daily Mail reports that a full 17 years after the show's end, Ed O'Neill, Christina Applegate, and David Faustino appeared alongside her and gave her a loving introduction. O'Neill, who is now a star of the TV show Modern Family, stated, "Met Katey in 1986, we didn't know each other but we just had a chemistry between us... Of course we did the show for 11 years and it was a great experience. Never laughed so hard in my life," conveying his fondness for Sagal.
Christina Applegate commented, "I spent more time with Katey, Ed, and David than I did my own family. I take all the good things Katey gave me. She's caring, giving, loving, supportive, honest. And here we are honoring this incredible talent and I couldn't be more proud of her and I couldn't love anybody more," highlighting her pride and respect for her co-star.
Sagal currently plays the role of Gemma Teller Morrow on the FX show Sons of Anarchy, and will have a role in the movie "Bleed for This" alongside Miles Teller and Aaron Eckhart.
