SpongeBob Squarepants 2 Premiere Date: The film sequel of the TV cartoon phenom SpongeBob Squarepants will premiere on February 6, 2015, a year and a half after it finished filming on November 2013. Paramount has recently announced the new screening date of “SpongeBob Squarepants: Sponge Out of Water” and noted that it will include live action footage just like its predecessor.

According to Tom Kenny (the voice behind SpongeBob), speaking with USA Today, the film shows a “bold new world where no Sponge has gone before.”

“You’ve seen someone in a certain way for so long…it’s just really different,” he added.

SpongeBob Squarepants 2 was originally intended for a 2014 release. In an August 22, 2013 article in the Hollywod Reporter, Paramount Pictures said that will instead have its official release on February 13, 2015. Another change in the schedule was made on June 5, 2014, intending to avoid competition with Universal Pictures’ “Fifty Shades of Grey” set to premiere on the February 13 as well. It was bumped up a week earlier to February 6, 2015.

The Christian Post notes that SpongeBob Squarepants 2 focuses on the Burger Beard, played by Antonion Banderas, who’s a pirate looking for the final page to a book that makes any evil plan of his to come true. The news site added that the missing part of the book happens to be the secret recipe for the Krabby Patty, which is jealously guarded by Mr. Krabs. Burger Beard snatches the book, requiring SpongeBob and his famouys company – Patrick, Sandy, Squidward, Mr. Krabs, and Plankton, to go on a mission.

The famous fictional sponge whom the website Coming Soon described as the “world’s favorite sea dwelling invertebrate” faces his “super heroic adventure” ashore.

The movie stars Antonio Banderas, Tom Kenny, Clancy Brown, Rodger Bumpass, Bill Fagerbakke, Carolyn Lawrence, and Douglas Lawrence. Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies are producing the film.
