‘Parasyte’ Live-Action Movie Updates: 3 New Trailers Unleashed, Film Set To Close Tokyo International Film Festival

Fans of the "Parasyte" manga series get some exciting news today as three new trailers for the live action film have been released. In addition to this, international film buffs should pay attention to this film as it will close the Tokyo International Film Festival, arguably the biggest film festival in Japan.

Anime News Network reports, "TOHO began streaming three new videos promoting the first of the two live-action film adaptations of Hitoshi Iwaaki's Parasyte (Kiseiju) science-fiction horror manga began streaming on Wednesday." The popular news site also graciously provided english translation scripts along with the trailers so anyone not fluent in Japanese can also enjoy the exciting new teasers. The film will be directed by Takashi Yamazaki.

"Parasyte" or "Kiseijuu" follows ordinary high school student Shin, who finds himself in a battle with an alien parasite that intends to take over his own body and join other alien parasites that have come to devour the human race. My Anime List adds in regards to those parasites that, "once they have infected their victims, they can assume any deadly form they choose: monsters with giant teeth, winged demons, creatures with blades for hands. But most have chosen to conceal their lethal purpose behind ordinary human faces."

While the theatrical release of the live action film version of "Parasyte" is set for November 29th in Japan, there is an opportunity to catch the film sooner. "Parasyte" is set to close the 27th annual Tokyo International Film Festival, according to Mainichi. Those with the means to get to the festival can head to the festival's official site ticket board to purchase tickets.

For those "Parasyte" fans not in Japan, there has been no news of possible U.S. distribution. However, given that it's closing a major film festival that will open with Disney's "Big Hero 6," perhaps some U.S. distribution companies looking for horror films for the upcoming Halloween season will pick the film up.
