[VIDEO] Resident Evil Revelations 2 Trailer Released! First Episode Reveals Claire Redfield Mysteriously Kidnapped, February 2015 Release Date?

Today Capcom revealed the first trailer for the latest in the "Resident Evil" franchise, "Resident Evil Revelations 2." The new trailer, which hints at some interesting settings and gruesome new enemies, also sets the stage for the first episode of the game: Claire Redfield mysteriously kidnapped at gunpoint. And while no official date has been set for the game, some have begun to speculate that early 2015 may translate to as early as February.

In a report from Joystiq, "Resident Evil Revelations 2" producer Michiteru Okabe stated, "I want this to be both a game that doesn't lose what made its predecessor great, while also bringing something new and exciting to the Resident Evil series."

Based on the trailer, it looks like the creators have done just that. "Resident Evil Revelations 2" is set to star fan favorite Claire Redfield and Barry Burton's daughter, Moira Burton. In this new trailer one can spot the infamous Claire in shock as she is kidnapped at gunpoint from some sort of party.

According to Gamespot, "Each episode will sell for $6 each, or the full season can be purchased for $25 (which doesn't represent a saving, but Capcom says the series digital bundle comes with "additional content")." Hopefully this will combat some of the initial fan disappointment with the episodic releases.

In terms of the release date, official reports have merely slated the game to be out "early 2015," but how early is early? Given episodic release format and the San Francisco Game Developers Conference set for March, February seems like a good month to keep eager fans happy, and then have the full disc version ready to go with any announcements for the conference. Nevertheless, with the 2014 Tokyo Game Show fast approaching, Capcom will more than likely set an official date soon.

Until the official release date though, fans can check out the trailer below. Anime News Network explains that "Resident Evil Revelations 2" will be available for the following game platforms: "PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC."
