Los Angeles Lakers Roster Could Be This Year's Dark Horse To Enter NBA Playoffs, Kobe Expected To Become Unstoppable With Scott's Princeton Offense

The Los Angeles Lakers roster may not look like it, but it may very well be the last team to enter the playoffs in the Western Conference this coming season.

Of course almost no one is expecting that on paper, especially with the return of Kobe Bryant the only notable news story we can get from the Lakers' off-season.

Still, free agency had its fair share of benefits for Los Angeles as they acquired Ed Davis from Memphis. Davis is a talented center who can play on both ends of the court, though he has not been used that much during his stint with the Grizzlies. He averaged only 15 minutes per game, and averaged almost 6 points and 4 rebounds.

Another acquisition for the Lakers is power forward Carlos Boozer, whom it claimed off from waivers after the Bulls decided to waive the big man. While Boozer is a suspect when it comes to his poor defense, he will definitely add firepower for the Lakers inside the paint.

The Lakers also made a key acquisition with Jeremy Lin from the Houston Rockets, and he even comes with a future first round pick. Houston was already scrambling then, thinking they should clear off some cap space to sign Chris Bosh after James made his decision to move on to Cleveland.

The plan didn't work. Bosh signed a four year contract with the Heat where he will now become the center piece of the post-Lebron James era.

And so as a result, the Lakers are 'gifted' with a reliable floor general who is destined to have a bounce back year this season after becoming a sixth player for the Rockets.

Los Angeles may still be looking for possible additions before training camp begins, and that includes former second overall draft pick Michael Beasley.

With this talent surrounding Bryant, and the talented coach the Lakers have in Byron Scott, we shouldn't be surprised to see purple and blue get back to the playoffs. As a franchise, the Lakers have missed the playoffs only six times in NBA history.
