Upcoming Sony Phones 2014: Xperia Z3 Compact Hitting European Market Soon, Costs £350 On Pre-Orders In UK And Germany

One of the upcoming Sony phones in 2014, the Xperia Z3 Compact was just announced at the IFA event last week, but in a new report it would make its way to Europe sooner rather than later.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the Android-powered smartphone is already available for pre-orders from Sony Mobile's official store at £400, although the device is also currently being offered by some retailers on pre-orders.

In the report, Clove UK and Handtec offers the Xperia Z3 Compact on pre-order at only £350, where stocks are expected should arrive by late September.

Meanwhile, Sony Mobile's German website together with Amazon and NotebooksBillinger, already offers the device on pre-order at €500, or roughly £400 as well.

In case you missed the IFA showcase in Berlin, the Xperia Z3 Compact is one of the thinnest smartphones on the market today. It packs a 4.6-inch display and still with HD (1280 x 720) resolution, a quad-core CPU clocked at 2.5GHz, Snapdragon 801 chipset and a 16GB internal memory.

Unlike the Xperia Z1 Compact which boasted the same RAM as its flagship counterpart, the Z3 Compact only has 2GB. It also comes with a microSD card slot that can support up to 128GB of expanded memory.

In the camera department, the phone still packs a 20.7MP primary camera while there is a 2.2MP front cam for selfies and video calls.

Like previous Sony flagships, the Xperia Z3 Compact comes with water resistance. There is also a non-removable 2,600mAh battery which should let the phone last a day.

Sony has been highly-criticized in the weeks before the IFA event because of the design of its flagship, the Xperia Z3 which closely resembles that of its previous generation flagship. The Xperia Z3 Compact also gets similar design to the Xperia Z1 Compact, but at least they're two generations apart. We'll see how the compact smartphone will be received in European markets.
