Upcoming HTC Phones 2014: October 8 Event To Feature A 'Selfie' Phone? Could It Just Be The Desire 820? Camera Accessory Also In The Works?

We know that a trend is currently going on when the world's biggest smartphone makers are using it to fuel their marketing campaigns.

First it was Sony, and then Nokia, now the 'selfie' craze has swept even Taiwanese manufacturer HTC. The company has sent out invites to an ac October 8 event in New York where we may expect the HTC Desire 820 and probably another smartphone.

Together the with Desire 510, the 820 is one of the handsets to run on Qualcomm's 64-bit Snapdragon 610 chipset, which is a first in the Android market. But because the Desire 510 is not a 'selfie' phone due to its VGA front cam, it should not be a part of this launch.

If the Desire 820 will be announced in New York, then why is the invite named 'Double Exposure'? Apparently, according to a source by Phone Arena, HTC will feature a camera attachment or accessory as well.

If you are familiar with GoPro, you will be able to visualize how the camera accessory looks like. In the report, it is said to be 'tube shaped' and feature Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.

These features would allegedly allow the user to use the camera accessory's features and functions using your smartphone, particularly an Android app made for it.

HTC has been posting all-time lows when it comes to sales, and in the report, it is coming off fresh from it 12th straight quarter of downfall in terms of sales.

In spite developing some of the best Android smartphones in the market, it is still surprising that the company is struggling. However, if we consider the recent emergence of Chinese brands which are way cheaper, and the slow decline of Samsung especially in China, we think that HTC should be lowering its prices as well.
