iPhone 6 battery life: Apple’s newest flagship, the iPhone 6, was unveiled Tuesday with much fanfare. As expected, many are already preparing their wallets to purchase the new device and are thrilled of what the iPhone 6 offers. But despite the high-profile updates in display and under the hood feature, the unit falls short of delivering a much needed improvement: battery life.

According to BGR, compared to the iPhone 5S, the iPhone 6 offers the same amount of standby time but delivers an extra hour of Internet use over wifi and an extra hour of video playback. The site noted that “the iPhone 6’s battery life won’t offer much of a step forward from the iPhone 5S.”

Mark Rogowsky of Forbes writes as the title of his story, “In Picking Form Over Function, Apple Gave The iPhone 6 A Lousy Battery.”

The writer says that the new iPhone is “supermodel thin” and that at some point he wondered if the newer generation of iPhones are becoming “too skinny” as he found it more difficult to “maintain a solid group around it versus the thicker iPhoen 4/4S design.”

“But more than anything, the geek in me has wondered if that svelte exterior has come at too high a price: It leaves precious room for a decent battery inside.” Between the iPhone 5S and iPhone 6, there isn’t much of a difference in power on most types of uses for the handset except for audio.

This would mean that unless you’re using your phone for podcasts and listening to music, the battery life of the iPhone 6 would be the same.

BGR says that if you’re a user seeking a much better battery life for your iPhone, then the iPhone 6 Plus is the best bet. Apple’s first phablet offers six extra days of standby time, two more hours of internet use over Wi-Fi and four more hours of video playback time.

The iPhone 6 is available for $199 on a two year service agreement is already available for pre-order.
