MacBook Air Retina: Apple’s sexy laptop line, the MacBook Air with Retina display, may get a refreshed look next year when the line is updated. In a June 2014 Cult of Mac reported that the MacBook Air with Retina display is coming with a 12-inch variant, citing DigiTimes as a source. And now a new report suggest that the unit may come in different colors.

According to Cult of Mac, when Apple unveils the 12-inch MacBook Air with Retina display, which could be around middle of next year, it could come in space gray and gold colors. It will also come in the usual aluminum color. Other rumors, however, suggest that the new 12-inch MacBook Air could arrive as soon as December of this year.

The Epoch Times in a September 12, 2014 report notes that the upcoming 12-inch MacBook Air with Retina display, may also use an Intel processor that would not require a fan.

The news site, citing a report from BGR, about the new Intel M Core M processor by Intel. The chip-maker has been reported as saying that it will promote the creation of “razor-thin and fanless designs with the optimal blend of beauty, performance and battery life.”

There is no price point speculated for the 12-inch MacBook Air. Current price for the MacBook Air 11-inch is $899 and $999 for its 13-inch version.

The latter part of the year is when Apple usually showcases its newest hardware. Recently, the company unveiled its newest line of iPhones, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. After numerous rumors, it also announced the Apple iWatch, the very first wearable by the company.

Aside from the new handsets, Apple is also expected to announce sometime this year the rumored iPad Pro, the latest iteration of its best-selling tablet.
