Nexus 9 Release Date: NVIDIA 'Accidentally' Mentions New Google Slate In Leaked Document, Tegra K1 Chip Almost Confirmed?

In spite not being a popular option among smartphones, NVIDIA continues to be one of the best chipmakers in the business. And its recent lawsuit with both Qualcomm and Samsung, NVIDIA may have accidentally spilled the beans about the Nexus 9 release date.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the chip manufacturer has included the Nexus 9 from HTC in its list of upcoming devices which would possibly boast its latest Tegra K1 chipset.

The company may have accidentally revealed the time frame by which the new Android tablet will be announced. For most Android purists, the Nexus devices are the cream of the crop.

It is funny to think that earlier this year, many thought Google is scraping off the Nexus program due to the upcoming Android Silver campaign. However, a statement from an Nexus development engineer clarified that hardware is always needed when developing new versions of Android.

For some time now, a lot of reports are showing that the Taiwanese manufacturer has been tapped to work on the upcoming Nexus slate. It is interesting to point out that HTC has not made any Android tablets since 2011, so we'll stay tuned regarding its design.

Will it get BoomSound speakers? How about the material used? Would it get UltraPixel cameras as well?

In recent rumors, the device is codenamed Volantis, and should be the most powerful Nexus slate from Google. Some alleged specs include a 8.9-inch display with QHD or 2K (2560 x 1600) resolution, 3GB of RAM, NVIDIA's chipset, and a n 8MP rear shooter.

Unlike previous Nexus devices which were on the affordable side, the new HTC Nexus 9 could be priced much higher due to its flagship specs.

In a recent report by GSM Arena, the 8.9-inch tablet will most likely debut with the Nexus 6 which is made by Motorola. A possible release date could be by mid-October to early-November.
