According to the official synopsis of "Top 3 Compete; Winner Chosen," Episode 18 & 19 of Season 5, "The fifth season ends as the Top 3 contestants (Elizabeth Cauvel, Leslie Gilliams and Courtney Lapresi) create dishes for a panel of judges from all 50 U.S. states. The winner earns an automatic spot in the Top 2, while the other two chefs face a pressure test involving desserts. Later, the winner is chosen after the Top 2 compete for the trophy, a book deal and a $250,000 grand prize."

Why should you watch tonight's "MasterChef" finale episode?

According to the Globe And Mail, "MasterChef is one of those series that finds committed viewers season after season because, for all the reality-TV fakery, it remains compelling. First there's the food, and in particular the so-called "pressure tests" wherein contestants - all home cooks, not professionals - have to use their knowledge and skills at top speed, with ingredients just presented to them. Sometimes one is awed by the inventiveness (finalist Leslie is brilliant at the pressure tests) and sometimes stunned by the ineptitude...You do learn a lot about food on MasterChef. Watching people deal with simple dishes, in particular, is an education. But the meat of the show is the matter of which distinct representative type comes out on top. It means something. Which is why you should watch."

Who do you think will be crowned the 2014 "MasterChef" champion?

According to Carter Matt, "We feel like going from three home cooks to two is going to be one of the most predictable eliminations ever. Most people at this point probably want to see a showdown between Elizabeth and Courtney, who have dominated most of the season. We're one of the biggest Leslie fans out there, given that he has been great entertainment and also a pretty solid cook most of the way through the season. However, it seems like time, and if it is a close race between the three, the overall competition will probably be taken into consideration. So if Leslie is the likely third-place-finisher, who is probably going to be the winner at the end of this? That is an interesting question in its own right, but if we had to pinpoint someone right now, we'd lean mostly towards Courtney. Her record overall has been just as strong, and she has probably received the more favorable edit without really anything negative in there at all...What we really just want more than anything else in the finale is plenty of competition, and for a race that is obviously close. We know that the edit will make it appear that way regardless, but it is nice if there is some genuine tension thrown in there."
