NBC Orders Horror Anthology: Jason Blum, Tony Krantz & Endemol To Head Project, Show To Resemble ‘Twilight Zone’ In Style

With the success of both "The Strain," and "Sleepy Hollow," having a horror series to air around Halloween seems like a good idea for TV networks to explore. Today it was announced NBC has ordered a new horror anthology series. Jason Blum, Tony Krantz, and Endemol Studios will lead the project that is set to resemble ‘The Twilight Zone' in that every episode will feature its own complete story.

"I feel like it's a really cool, interesting, new, innovative horror movie and anytime I see a horror movie like that, whether just as a fan or as someone who can help make it happen for the filmmakers, I would want to get involved and that's how I got involved," said Jason Blum in a recent interview with Screenrant. The film in question was "Oculus," which is one of many Blum spearheaded horror projects that go from the indie film circuit to successful theatrical releases. It would make perfect sense then to involve the guy that got "Paranormal Activity" off the ground involved in a new horror anthology project.

According to Deadline, "horror master Jason Blum has teamed with producer-director Tony Krantz (NBC's 'Dracula') and Endemol Studios (‘Hell On Wheels') for a horror/sci-fi/thriller anthology drama. It has been set up at NBC with a script-to-series commitment; upon script approval, the project would receive a 10-episode straight-to-series order." They go on to explain that the anthology series will be executive produced by Blum and Krantz and the horror-writing group Radio Silence (Chad Villella, Matthew Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett and Justin Martinez) are attached to write.

While no information has been released as to when fans can expect the series, it may be a while before it comes to TV sets as NBC has plenty of other projects in the works including their current breadwinner's return, "The Blacklist." Nevertheless, it's shaping up to be better than similar ideas that have recently been made, like "Fear Itself" and "Masters of Horror."
