‘Gone Girl’ director David Fincher revealed in Playboy interview that he essentially ast Ben Affleck in ‘Gone Girl’ because of ‘Batman’ star’s creepy smile. Despite having an unsettling smile, Ben Affleck manages to keep his marriage to Jennifer Garner and his family wholesome!

Ben Affleck really let his opinions known in an interview with Details magazine, saying that all the rumors about his impending split with Jennifer Garner is untrue and unfounded.

“See, that’s tabloid sh**. That’s all bulls**t. They completely lie,” he insisted.

“I mean, I can show you 10 articles of Star and OK!—those magazines feel totally comfortable absolutely fictionalising every single element of the story. And there’s nothing you can do about that. My only hope is that people with any common sense recognize that those stories are false. And, I don’t know, there’re worse stories…”

True. There are worse stories and one of them could be David Fincher revealing to the world that he picked Ben Affleck out of hundreds for a role in ‘Gone Girl’.

David Fincher said:

“You cast movies based on critical scenes. In Gone Girl there’s a smile the guy has to give when the local press asks him to stand next to a poster of his missing wife. I flipped through Google Images and found about 50 shots of Affleck giving that kind of smile in public situations. You look at them and know he’s trying to make people comfortable in the moment, but by doing that he’s making himself vulnerable to people having other perceptions about him.”

A director always does his research in casting. In this case, it looks like David Fincher researched by stalking Ben Affleck via google. Whatever works!

Despite all these rather creepy things happening around him, ‘Batman’ star is trying to keep his family life and marriage to Jennifer Garner wholesome and healthy. Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner have three children together.

'Gone Girl' will hit the cinemas on October 4, 2014.
