Did the Twitter messages of "Modern Family" actress Sarah Hyland's ex boyfriend Matt Prokop hint at his violent nature before their break up? Sarah Hyland has reportedly filed for a restraining order against her ex boyfriend Matt Prokop following reports of his abuse.

"Modern Family" fans will remember a man groped Sarah Hyland outside of an event promoting the TV show in Sydney, Australia in February.

"Sorry to all the fans outside the #qantas event that I didn't get to say hi to but I had to leave due to an inappropriate touch of a fan," she wrote on Twitter immediately following the attack.

Soon after, boyfriend Matt Prokop tweeted: "To the asshole who assaulted Sarah tonight I hope to God you don't see next week."

His harsh words were seen as supportive, but now the tone seems threatening and violent. Matt Prokop's words hint at an over-protectiveness not healthy in a relationship.

TMZ has learned that Sarah Hyland has filed for a temporary restraining order against Prokop. In the obtained court documents filed by Hyland, she claims her ex Matthew Prokop terrorized her both verbally and physically during their 5-year relationship.

According to the docs, Prokop "pinned Hyland against a car during an argument about her outfit back in May and unleashed hell ... calling her "c**t, c**t, c**t" and choking her," TMZ writes.

Hyland says in the documents: "His grip was so tight that I could not breathe or speak. I was scared and in fear for my life." Sarah says she had a "very sore throat following this event."

In the docs, Hyland says she asked her "Modern Family" mom Julie Bowen to come to her house to help "peacefully end the relationship."

Hyland says she had purchased a plane ticket to send Matt back to his home in Texas but when he came home and saw Julie, he freaked out and "ran outside into the backyard and began screaming."

Hyland says Prokop threw a lighter at her. Julie stepped in and told Sarah to get out of the house because she wasn't safe around Prokop.

Hyland says Prokop also threatened to set her house on fire and threatened that she would never see her dog again.

After Hyland broke up with Prokop, she claims he "relentlessly bombarded me with vile, threatening and emotionally disturbing texts and voice mails including his own suicide threats."

Hyland says Prokop entered a rehab facility in August but got out on Sept. 21st. She claims the director of the facility contacted her and told her it would be in her best interest to get a restraining order against him due to his mental state and attitude against her.

The temporary restraining order she was granted requires Prokop to stay at least 100 yards away from Sarah and her dog at all times.

As we previously reported, an insider told Star Magazine for the September 29 issue that Matt Prokop's behavior since their break up was getting very upsetting.

"Matt has become obsessed with Sarah.

"He calls and texts her constantly and has even said some strange things about her and her dog.

"She's terrified and wants [him to] stop."

The "Modern Family" actress and ex boyfriend Matt Prokop lived together and started dating in 2008 when they met during their audition for "High School Musical 3." They then starred in the film "Geek Charming" in 2011.
