Los Angeles Lakers Roster: 4 Reasons Why Michael Beasley's Signing With Memphis Is A Lost Opportunity For Lakers

Even after losing Pau Gasol and some key players, the Los Angeles Lakers roster still looks decent in this upcoming NBA season. Any team that has a player named Kobe Bryant is.

However, as far as talent is concerned among his team mates, there is really a problem in L.A.

A couple of months back, there were rumors that forward Michael Beasley is interesting in suiting up for the Lakers. However, it turned out Los Angeles did not want him.

But were they right in that decision?

Here are four reasons why letting Beasley slip away has cost the Lakers the season:

1. He can score

Beasley may not be the best player attitude-wise, but he can definitely score. During his first year's in the NBA, he averaged in double figures, even reaching 19 points per game during the 2010-11 NBA season with the Timberwolves.

2. He has a lot to prove

At ony 25 years old, Beasley has a lot to prove especially to fans who have already forgotten all about him and who he was. He wasn't selected second overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft for nothing, and he was a favorite together with fellow 2008 draftee Derrick Rose, who was picked ahead of him.

3. Coach Byron Scott can mold him

Scott will be focusing on the Lakers' defense when training camp officially arrives, and if there is one man who needs to learn how to defend, that's Beasley. In this point in his career, he can either do his part and strive for greatness or just settle to be the black sheep of every NBA team he belongs to. We would love to see him pick the first option in LA.

4. Learn from Kobe

11 years younger than Kobe, Beasley can learn from the former MVP with regards to work ethic and discipline - two attributes he doesn't have in his pro-career. It also helps that the Lakers have motivator and fun guy Steve Nash to provide some elderly wisdom to the veteran forward.
