"Defiance" Seaon 3 has been ordered By Syfy, for 13 episodes

The Defiance TV show takes place in the year 2047, 30 years after various alien races arrived on Earth. The town of Defiance, built on the ruins of what used to be St. Louis, stands as an example of how humans and aliens can live harmoniously together, more or less.

The cast includes Grant Bowler, Julie Benz, Stephanie Leonidas, Jaime Murray, Tony Curran, Graham Greene, Jesse Rath, Nicole Munoz, Dewshane Williams, Jim Murray, Anna Hopkins, and William Atherton.

The seasons rating averages have dipped a little but not too much. Season 1 averaged about 2.1 million viewers per episode while season 2 has averaged about 1.6 million viewers, including o.47 in the key 18-49 demographic.

For comparison, Haven, which is in the middle of its fifth season, has received renewals twice with similar or fewer viewers on average per episode, about 1.6 million in season 3 and 1.45 million in season 4.

Executive producer Kevin Murphy told reporters earlier this year (via Scifi Pulse) that he has a plan going forward if it is renewed.

"I'm confident that if there is a third season, I know exactly what's going to happen in it, and I'm very excited to do it. That doesn't mean that Syfy will agree with me, but I'm very confident that we'll do a great job. And I think, based on the reaction of the show, I remain cautiously optimistic," he said.

"Season 1 was about a wild and wooly, rural free sheriff driven frontier town, Season 2 was about a town that is under occupation dealing with what does it mean to be free and what does it mean to work within a larger context of society as we look at the rest of the world or the rest of North America. Season 3 is going to be more global, and it's going to be more about dealing with the role of theology and government within a society."

The first two season of Defiance were released in the summer, so expect the show to return Summer 2015. Check back for more information as we get closer to the release date.
