For more than a year, HTC has reveled in the idea that bigger camera sensors lead to better overall camera for its flagship devices. The technology did not help the Taiwanese manufacturer, in spite releasing two of the finest Android flagships in the last two years. 

However, it looks like HTC is now willing to let go of the 4MP UltraPixels of its last two One smartphones, and would instead use a 13MP shooter for the primary camera. 

According to a recent report by GSM Arena, the Taiwanese manufacturer is working on a new version of its One M8, and is codenamed as HTC One M8 Eye. 

In this upcoming edition of the One M8, the 4MP UltraPixels will be replaced by a 13MP 'regular' camera. The great thing here is that the smartphone will feature the same Duo Camera function in the original One M8, which brings a secondary depth sensor that measures depth while taking pictures. 

The feature also allows users to choose from a different perspective even after the shots have been taken. 

Other specs of the upcoming HTC phone include a bigger 5.2-inch display, but will retain the Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution. Also expected to be on board are the Snapdragon 801 chipset, 2GB of RAM and either a 16GB or 32GB of internal memory. 

The camera department is certainly an improvement, but some people, especially those who prefer the latest handsets may think twice in buying the One M8 Eye. 

It is only a few more months before the end of the year, and three months in 2015, we'd expect another HTC flagship, probably the One M9. 

It is just a matter of which one they would prefer, an upgraded 2014 phone they can get right away, or a more advanced 2015 handset that will arrive by the middle of next year.
