George Clooney just said goodbye to bachelorhood.

George and human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin are officially married Saturday, TMZ reported. The couple said "I do's" at Venice, Italy in front of their families and friends.

Last year, the newlyweds started dating but kept their romance under wraps. This year, George popped the question.

George who has been known to be the most eligible bachelor for a long time married Amal in a ceremony officiated by former Rome Mayor Walter Veltroni. The two are going to be in a civil ceremony, Monday, making the deal all the more official.

The civil ceremony will be at the at the 16th-century Palazzo Cavall, Venice town hall, USA Today reports.

Prior to the lavish wedding, the couple held separate bachelor and bachelorette parties with friends and families.

George who had dated string of women after being divorced to his first wife Talia Balsam in 1993 was quoted as saying in an interview with Barbara Walters in 1995 that he is not getting married again.

Yahoo News quoted George as saying in that interview with Walters when asked the question on why he never wanted to be married again, "because I wasn't very good at it."

George, 53, has just met his match in Amal, who according to Internet reports is a combination of beauty and brains.

Reports said Amal is a law graduate of Oxford University and specializes in international law and human rights and is London-based.

George proposed to Alamuddin in April. He announced on Sept. 7 that he is marrying Amal during a charity event in Florence:"

George has stated, "I met my lovely bride-to-be here in Italy, whom I will be marrying in a couple of weeks, in Venice, of all places." He added, "I would just like to say to my bride-to-be, Amal, that I love you very much and I can't wait to be your husband."
