Gwen Stefani Talks About Collaborating With Husband Gavin Rossdale In 'The Voice'; Admits It Was Not Easy

Since Christina Aguilera and Shakira's exit in "The Voice" blind auditions in Season 6, Gwen Stefani is here to take one of the judge's seat (together with Pharrel Williams) for Season 7 which has started on September 22 and with her as voice coach is no other than her husband for 12 years, Gavin Rossdale. In a recent press conference for NBC, the Hollerback singer reveals it is not easy collaborating with the rocker husband.

"I went back and forth about having Gavin on [the show] because we have only collaborated on babies before. I was really overwhelmed that Gavin was actually going to be on [the show] with me, and we got in a little fight about it the night before because I was like, 'I don't know if I can handle this. It's just too much," she declared.

Further, she admitted to have thought over the new collaboration and finally came up with the decision to 'sleep on it' and started afresh with the Bush front man. It was then she realized that working with him is enjoyable but still admit that there are times when she feels nervous.

"The first couple [of contestants] who came through, I was so nervous. I wasn't nervous because of being on the show. I was nervous because I was sitting next to him. He's smart. He's so musical. You play different roles for different people in your life - and I'm his wife, so it was weird. But it was awesome and really, really fun to do that with him."

An earlier interview with US Weekly stated this is the first time for No Doubt former vocalist to be a coach in the singing competition and according to her, the announcement is a total surprise.

"The whole thing was a surprise. I just had my baby [Apollo], and I got the call. I had no idea sitting here would be so fun. I was really a bit anxious after I signed it and was like, 'Oh my god, what have I gotten myself into?'"

In her first few days of the show, the 44-year musician and L.A.M.B fashion designer acknowledge the support of co-judge Maroon 5 vocalist, Adam Levine who said that things are going to be fine with her.

Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale met in 1995 in a Bush concert with No Doubt and Goo Goo Dolls as co-performers. They got married in 2002 and have three kids, Kingston, 8, Zuma, 6 and newborn Apollo who is still six-months old.
