Nicole Scherzinger Pussycat Doll Memories Continue As She Purrs Her Way Into Andrew Lloyd Webber's ‘Cats’

Nicole Scherzinger will always be a Pussycat Doll. The X-Factor judge will be purring herself back into a cat-suit as she makes her West End debut in a revival of "Cats." The famous play by Andrew Lloyd Webber was one of the West End's longest-running shows.

Nicole Scherzinger was cast as Grizabella in the award-winning musical. "Cats" returns to London for a 12-week run starting on Dec. 6. Cats is based on TS Eliot's book "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats."

"I am really thrilled to be making my West End debut in such an iconic show," Scherzinger said in a statement. "I grew up listening to Andrew's extraordinary music and was lucky enough, a couple of years ago, to record Cats' beautiful song Memory."

This is not the first time the once and future Pussycat Dolls performer has performed music by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Scherzinger sang the title song of The Phantom of the Opera at its 25th Anniversary celebration at the Royal Variety Performance in 2011.

Last year, Nicole sang "Don't Cry For Me Argentina," from the Andrew Lloyd Webber play "Evita," on the ITV show "Andrew Lloyd Webber: 40 Musical Years in 2013."

She said: "To have the opportunity to work with Andrew, Trevor and Gillian is a dream come true."

Scherzinger studied theater and dance at the Wright State University in Ohio.

Scherzinger will join Cameron Ball, Kathryn Barnes, Cassie Clare, Ross Finnie, Charlene Ford, Adam Lake, Paul F Monaghan, Joel Morris,Natasha Mould and Benjamin Mundy.

Cats opened on Broadway in 1982 and ran for 18 years. It went on to become the second longest-running show in Broadway history after The Phantom of the Opera.

The Daily Mail broke the news earlier this summer that icole Scherzinger was in talks to play in the Cats revival at the London Palladium this winter.

A Cats Executive told the Daily Mail at the time "It's a lovely idea, and Nicole would be perfect for Grizabella. There's desire on both sides for this to work."

Previews for Cats begin Dec. 6 2014 at the London Palladium. The show opens on 11 December 2014 and runs until 28 February 2015.
