New ‘Annabelle’ Horror Movie Clips Released, ‘The Conjuring’ Prequel Set To Debut At Number Two In the Box Office This Weekend Behind ‘Gone Girl’

While certain doll collectors might find vintage glass dolls endearing, horror film fans know better. In fact, when Patrick Wilson in "The Conjuring" adamantly tells his daughter not to touch the doll that is now the subject of New Line Cinema's latest horror film, "Annabelle," horror film fans know nothing good will come of interacting with the creepy ancient looking doll.

Horror film fans will get more of the creepy doll film trope as three new clips from "Annabelle" which stars Annabelle Wallis (X-Men: First Class) and Ward Horton (The Wolf of Wall Street) were released today. Those whose appetites are not satisfied will get to see the film this weekend on October 3rd, but box office analysts predict that more people will be eager to see "Gone Girl" on Friday.

Last year, "The Conjuring" director James Wan told Moviefone that, "I'm going to go on record and say I am finished with the horror genre. ‘Conjuring' and ‘Insidious 2' are my two last scary movies."

Horror film fans were deeply saddened by the announcement but they can perhaps find comfort in the fact that Wan will be producing the sort-of prequel, "Annabelle." The film will instead be directed by John R. Leonetti, who was the director of photography for "The Conjuring." Bloody Disgusting describes the plot: "John Form thinks he's found the perfect gift for his expectant wife, Mia-a beautiful, rare vintage doll in a pure white wedding dress. But Mia's delight with Annabelle doesn't last long."

The film is garnering a lot of buzz, but Box Office Pro predicts that even though an October release is on its side, it will have to compete with Oscar buzz worthy film "Gone Girl." The analysts predict that "Annabelle" will take in $18 million behind an expected $24 million for "Gone Girl."

No matter what happens this weekend in terms of box office performance, here's hoping that "Annabelle" can get the same critical acclaim achieved by "The Conjuring." Until then, fans can check out the all new film clips below.
