Modern Family Season 6 commenced on September 24.

The season premiere featured three main storylines with the common theme of dealing with family situations. The writers successfully mixed the three plots so that these still fit together in the end. IMDB wrote that Cameron is not yet ready to conclude the honeymoon with Mitchell after they wed. The Dunphys deal with life without Alex. And Gloria asks Jay to make some appearance adjustments.

First on Modern Family Season 6, the Dunphys discover that they are in such a state of ecstasy because Alex is no longer home. Alex was away saving the world but prematurely returns home. There was instant dissent among family members and the Dunphys try to convince Alex to attend to her humanitarian activities again. Haley, however, divulged that Alex ended their summer bliss, which made Alex furious. Subsequently, a fire almost broke out when Claire tried to dry a wet book inside the oven. Alex managed the situation well, causing the family to realize that an adult in the house will be good for everyone.

In a report by Entertainment Weekly, Mitch and Cam already returned from their honeymoon but Cam obviously has not gotten over the romantic getaway. Cam showered his new husband with a variety of sweet deeds, which actually annoyed Mitch. Mitch was humiliated especially after Cam surprised him by showing up at a work affair where partners were not invited. When Mitch arrived home, he apologized and promised to be more romantic to his partner.

Gloria did not like the idea that Jay no longer tries to look good for her, particularly wearing Mr. Magoo-style glasses. When Gloria tried to raise the issue, Jay responded that he wished that she would not try as hard to look good since he still loves her anyway. Gloria retaliated by dressing down to ragged clothes and even wearing a fanny pack. The couple finally agreed to look their best for each other regardless of their age.
