Black Sabbath Announces Final Album; Schedules Tour For 2015

It's a bittersweet bit of news for fans of the legendary metal band. Black Sabbath's final album has been announced, as well as their final tour.

The band reportedly decided to record Black Sabbath's final album after their most recent studio effort "13" debuted at number one in the United States and other countries in 2013.

In an interview with Classic Rock shortly after the release of "13," the band's session guitarist Tony Iommi was reportedly hesitant about doing another record, saying: "I don't know if it would be the right thing to do. But who knows. The history of this band has taught me to never say never."

But it appears that all systems are go for the band and Ozzy Osbourne, the band's frontman, shared how the plan to record and tour one last time came into fruition. "Once the dust settled after the last tour we started discussing the idea," said Osbourne. "Because we were getting asked about it all the time - I said to Sharon, 'What's going on? Because if there's no more Sabbath I want to get on with my own thing again,' and she came back and said 'Let me look into it."

"If we're going to do [it], I want to do it before I'm 70," Osbourne explained.

He also explained how they also needed to consider Iommi's condition, as he has been battling lymphoma. "Obviously a lot of it is coming down to Tony's health, he's obviously got his cancer treatment, but we'll get onto it next year," he said. "I don't know if we'll be writing in England of LA, but I'll fly to the fucking moon for it if I have to!"

The new record will reportedly be produced by Rick Rubin, who was on board with the band for "13."

While there had been no definite date as to when the Black Sabbath final album will come out and when the final tour will begin, Osbourne said that he, Iommi and bassist Geezer Butler are set on starting to write for the record in early 2015.
