Gretchen Rossi is opening up about her struggle to have a baby. The "Real House Wives of Orange County" star and her fiancé Slade Smiley have reportedly been trying to get pregnant but it has not been an easy road.

The RHOC reality star, who appeared with Smiley on Bravo's "Marriage Boot Camp," is currently undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF) in order to have a baby.

According to Reality Tea, Rossi does "mourn the loss of making a baby the natural way." And, as is usually the case, the process of IVF has proven difficult for the star and her husband-to-be.

"It's so much more complicated than we ever anticipated before we started it," said Rossi of her chosen method of getting pregnant. "You question everything and wonder if it's the right decision. And it's not fun to shoot yourself up three times a day. You just hope it pays off."

The 35-year-old RHOC star admits, however, that trying to get pregnant using IVF is made easier because of the relationship with Smiley.

"Actively pulling the trigger to make a baby is very powerful. You go through every step together," Rossi explains, adding, "As I'm crying and putting in shots that are very painful, Slade is right there with me."

According to the Inquisitir, Rossi opted for IVF, in part, because she has fears regarding her partner's genetics. Slade's son Grayson, from a previous relationship, was diagnosed in 2006 with an inoperable brain tumor. Grayson was six-years-old at the time.

Smiley is also concerned about the well-being of any potential children that he may have with his RHOC ladylove.

"If we were 20 and had another two decades ahead of us, maybe we'd have a child and see how that goes," Smiley told OK! Magazine. "But as we begin to age, we want to make sure that we've done everything possible to ensure a healthy baby."
