What happened on "Gracepoint" last week?

According to Movie News Guide, "In Episode 1 (air date: Oct 2, 2014), a young boy's body was discovered by the beach at Gracepoint, a peaceful seaside town in California. Detective Emmett Carver (David Tennant) took over the case, along with Detective Ellie Miller (Anna Gunn), who just returned from a family vacation. The boy happened to be someone Ellie knew as he was Danny Solano, the best friend of his son, Tom. Ellie's family was close with the Solanos; breaking the news to them was emotional. The victim's identity was leaked on Twitter, which pissed Emmett off because he gave strict instructions to his investigating team that this case was not supposed to come out to the press until they have enough evidence. The leak came from Owen, Ellie's nephew who is also a journalist, and it placed Ellie in a difficult position with her new superior. The situation between Emmett and Ellie was already tense. She was supposed to return from her vacation heading the investigating team, only to learn that her job was given to Emmett a week prior. The detectives interviewed Jack (Nick Nolte), the owner of the wildlife club that Danny frequented every morning. He said that Danny did not show up that day and he figured that he was sick. It's not unusual for kids to take the time off from their activities. The police also discovered a video of Danny sneaking out of his house at 10 p.m. with a skateboard. But they did not see a skateboard in the scene of the crime. Also, Danny's cell phone was missing. Speaking of cellphones, after Ellie discussed to Tom about what happened to his best friend, Tom secretly deleted all the phone messages from Danny. These were messages the night before he was found murdered. Why did Tom do this? And why was Susan, the curious bystander, always around to observe the police?"

According to Hypable, "Photos from Gracepoint season 1, episode 2 depict numerous interviews taking place, including one talk between Carver and Jack. This suspect first appeared on Ellie and Carver's radar last week, and he appears to still be in the spotlight. Another still depicts a tense confrontation between Danny's father Mark fighting with the town's minister, Paul Coates. It looks like Mark suspects that Paul was somehow involved with Danny's murder...Photos from the storyline depict Ellie meeting with Danny's older sister, Danny's father throwing the town priest up against a wall, and the two detectives hard at work on the case."

How will this tie to the case? Meanwhile, Mark, Danny's father, will be caught with a lie. But would this be enough to convince the detective on who killed Danny?
