‘The Avengers: Age Of Ultron’ Hawkeye Actor Jeremy Renner Talks ‘Kill The Messenger’ And How Has To ‘Stretch For An Hour’ Before Films Like ‘The Bourne Betrayal’

When someone says the name Jeremy Renner, their immediate thought may be "The Avengers" Hawkeye as opposed to the Oscar nominated lead actor from Academy award winning film "The Hurt Locker." Whatever film fans may know the actor from, Renner took a moment from his busy shooting schedule to talk about his now upcoming indie "Kill the Messenger" and how it's a nice break from the intense stretching that goes into action films like "The Bourne Betrayal."

Indiewire recently interviewed Jeremy Renner about his role in the CIA thriller "Kill the Messenger."

"It takes a lot out of me. The emotional anguish, sort of makes me step back and consider my own thoughts on the state of where we are as people. It's a much bigger thing for me than just saying some lines, or kicking some butt. Requires a lot more thought and feeling," he said.

"Kill the Messenger" is a bio-pic about the life of journalist Gary Webb and his uncovering of a CIA conspiracy that eventually would lead to the crack-cocaine epidemic in the 1980s. USA Today calls the film a "A quintessential David and Goliath tale," that is "as suspenseful as any episode of Showtime's Homeland, which director Michael Cuesta also executive-produced."

They also had good things to say about Renner's performance in the film, calling his performance "superb." Speaking of his performance, "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" actor admitted to being happy about the switch from physical to mental preparation, particularly in terms of stretching.

"Yeah! Normally I have to stretch for an hour before I can go to work. With ‘Kill the Messenger' I didn't have to do much stretching," he said after laughing.

Jeremy Renner may have wrapped on "Avengers: Age of Ultron," but he's still in production for "Mission Impossible 5" and is gearing up for "The Bourne Betrayal," so he'll probably have to go back to stretching soon. In the meantime though, fans can catch Renner in "Kill the Messenger" on October 10th.
