A lot of people are waiting for the Google Nexus 6 Motorola release date, especially that it will be the lineup's first actual high-end device that seeks to beat the competition, and not just become an alternative. 

Based on previous rumors and allegedly leaked specs, the Nexus 6 will be a powerful device that will boast a 5.9-inch QHD or 2K (2560 x 1440) display, 3GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 805 chipset. 

Given these specs, the Nexus 6 clearly is a rival of the 5.7-inch Samsung Galaxy Note, but across platforms, the upcoming Nexus device may be aiming at the iPhone for the first time in history. 

The Apple iPhone 6 Plus is probably one of the best smartphones to ever be released in the market, if not for the numerous -gate scandals questioning the phone's build quality. 

However, in this particular battle, it's not just a matter of Android vs. iOS. For the first time in the mobile market, the hardware specs of both the devices matter. 

In case you missed the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus launch, the 5.5-inch model boasts a Retina display, an improved Touch ID home button, a 64-bit enabled A8 chip, and the updated iOS 8.

Unfortunately, Apple decided not to upgrade the camera (remains at 8MP), screen resolution (Retina), and the RAM (only 1GB). 

This is where the rumored Nexus 6 will come in. If it does arrive with the specs it has been rumored to boast, expect more people to join the Android platform and experience lightning fast performance. 

The only thing that could change this is the pricing strategy of both Google and Motorola.
