Katy Perry's Super Bowl Performance Has Been Confirmed; Dark Horse Singer Gets Coveted Halftime Gig

Pop star Katy Perry's Super Bowl performance for next year has been slated, according to several reports.

After a month of speculation, Katy Perry's Super Bowl performance during half time has been confirmed, according to a report from Billboard.

Among the many artists reportedly considered for one of the biggest gigs of the year were Perry, Coldplay and Rihanna but the NFL has allegedly initiated a cash-fueled catch: The performer must pay in order to get the coveted slot.

According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, the National Football Leauge contacted the representatives of the chosen artists and asked if they were open "to contribute a portion of their post-Super Bowl tour income to the league, or if they would make some other type of financial contribution, in exchange for the halftime gig."

Musical acts who performed during half-time were reportedly not given any monetary compensation and was paid in publicity. This was sought as an opportunity for previous performers like Beyonce and Bruno Mars to announce their tours after their performance.

In an appearance on ESPN's College Game Day recently, the "Dark Horse" singer was asked about her thoughts on playing for the big sporting even, and the pop star said: "I have let them know that I'm not the kind of girl who would pay to play the Super Bowl, so the ball is in their field."

According to a report from Forbes, Perry was a viable choice as the "Firework" singer has a huge fan base of more than 58 follower on Twitter alone and has a number of worldwide hits under her belt.

It appears that the money debacle has been ironed out - although it's not clear if its the NFL or the pop star who caved - as Katy Perry's Super Bowl performance on February 1, 2015 at the University of Phoenix stadium in Glendale, Arizona is a done deal.
