Install Android 4.4.4 KitKat update on Samsung Galaxy Note 3 LTE via a custom ROM!

A new custom firmware based on Google's latest mobile operating system has been released, allowing the users of Samsung Galaxy Note 3 LTE variant to install Android 4.4.4 KitKat update on their smartphone.

According to the list of specs on GSM Arena for the Galaxy Note 3, the latest and official update made available for the phablet is Android 4.4.2 KitKat. But luckily, custom Android ROM developers,  particularly the CyanogenMod team, was able to create a new firmware, the CyanogenMod11 M11 or CM11 M11 ROM for Samsung's 2013 phablet.

Particularly, users can install Android 4.4.4 KitKat update via the CyanogenMod11 M11 on Samsung Galaxy Note 3 LTE, which carries the model number SM-N9005.

Furthermore, the CM11 M11 ROM is based on Android Open Source Project or AOSP. As described on International Business Times report, the custom firmware "is said to bring customisation options to boost device performance, new visual interface, shortcut for easy access to key apps and loads of personalisation options..."

Head over to this report from IB Times to see the list of features available on CyanogenMod11 M11 ROM as well as the detailed installation instructions on how to install Android 4.4.4 KitKat update on Samsung Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005.

But before installing the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update on Samsung Galaxy Note 3 using CM11 M11 firmware, there are some requirements and conditions that should be satisfied first to ensure a successful installation process.

Check the model number of the phablet. Again, the CyanogenMod11 M11 Android 4.4.4 KitKat firmware is compatible only with SM-N9005 units. Go to Settings > General > About Phone > Model Number. Installing the firmware on other models can damage the device.

Also, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 should have 80 percent battery level or more before installing Android 4.4.4 KitKat update using CM11 M11 custom ROM.

Create a backup of the data and settings stored on the Samsung Note 3 using custom recovery tools such as ClockWorkMod or TWRP.

Install the appropriate USB drivers of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005 on the computer so the Android device will easily connect with the PC during the installation process.

Enable USB Debugging mode on the phablet.
