Neil Young Tour Comments Say No More CSNY Performances; Neil Young Will Be Painting Watercolors of Classic Cars; Long May You Run, Neil [VIDEO]

Neil Young told a recent concert crowd that he won't be touring with Crosby, Stills and Nash anymore. The "Harvest Moon" singer has been busy with watercolors.

Neil Young, who developed a new digital sound system and owns Lionel Trains, is starting a new career, painting watercolors of classic cars.

It is no secret to anyone who bought his 2012 autobiography, '"Waging Heavy Peace: A Hippie Dream," or who heard the Stills Young song "Long May Your Run," that Neil Young has had a life- long obsession with cars.

On Oct. 14, Neil Young will release his new book, "Special Deluxe: A Memoir of Life & Cars." Booklist says the new book is "quite literally an auto-biography."

Neil Young writes about every car his parents owned, several of his own cars, and assorted classic trucks and buses. Neil then draws or traces 42 of the cars.

"I have always thought about painting and never had the confidence to start," Young said. "But when I wrote the book I searched and chose some photos of the cars and decided to trace them in pencil to eliminate the backgrounds and let the shapes dominate."

Young isn't a natural artist because "Being colorblind, I chose my colors carefully and consulted with friends to be sure I was on the right track. Now, I look on my colorblindness as an asset. Soon I started seeing that shadings and highlights from the angle of light hitting a surface was my main area of interest. At that point I began planning for them in advance, outlining them lightly as a guide and not painting them in, leaving them blank. Then I began blurring the colored areas with plain water on the brush or a damp Kleenex to accentuate the highlights of sun or shadow hitting paint and chrome."

Young told media that his love of cars is why he moved from Canada to the United States. He said "that was where all the cool music came from, all the great cars." The songwriting guitarist is also obsessed with carbon-dioxide emissions and cleaner alternative fuels.

Was Neil Young's 2006 tour with Crosby, Stills and Nash the last one ever? Young reportedly told a Philadelphia audience at the Academy of Music "CSNY will never tour again, ever."

Young was taking about a guitar that was "given to me by my good friend Stephen Stills." Neil did ad that "I love those guys."

Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young hit the top of the album charts in 1970 with "Déjà Vu." The album included three Top 40 singles. In 1988, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young released the full-length album "American Dream." Ten years later they released their third album, 'Looking Forward.' CSNY have also been performing together on and off, including at Young's 2013 Bridge School benefit.
